How to crop PDF
- Select the PDF file to see a preview of the first page.
- Drag to draw the area to keep, or adjust it with the corner handles.
- Press Crop to This Area and the same ratio is applied to every page and saved.
How cropping works
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Area selection | Drag on the preview to set the area to keep; fine-tune with corner handles |
| Scope | The same proportions are applied to every page of the document |
| Original kept | Content outside the area is hidden; the original file stays untouched |
💡 Trimming margins and unwanted areas
Whether a scan has wide margins or captures parts you don't want, selecting just the area to keep makes a document look much cleaner.
- ✏️ Drag to select: Draw the area to keep on the preview, or fine-tune it with the corner handles.
- 📐 Applies to every page: The ratio you set is applied identically to all pages, even ones with different sizes.
- 🔒 Browser-only processing: Files are never sent to a server — processing happens only in your browser.
📌 Where is cropping a PDF useful?
- Trimming scan margins — cut away the extra white space a scanner leaves around the page.
- Matching a social/thumbnail ratio — crop pages to 1:1, 16:9 or another ratio you need.
- Keeping only part of a page — extract just a table or figure and drop the rest.
- Matching print trim lines — adjust margins to spec before sending to a printer.
✨ How to crop the exact area you want
- Drag over the preview to mark the area to keep, then fine-tune it with the corner handles.
- The ratio you set on the first page is applied to every page the same way.
- Pages of different sizes are still cropped to match that same ratio.
🔒 Is the cropped-out area gone for good?
Yes. Cropping permanently removes everything outside the selected area when it saves. If you want to keep the original, make a copy of the file before cropping.

Frequently asked questions
- What if pages have different sizes?
- The ratio set on the preview (first page) is applied to every page — differently-sized pages are cropped by that same ratio.
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. All processing happens inside your browser.
- How do I trim just the margins?
- Drag the selection to the content edges on the preview — the margins are removed on every page at once.
- Can I crop pages differently?
- The same ratio applies to all pages. For different crops per page, split the document first and crop each part.
